“I’ve got the big picture! The first time I heard about Hisense it was reading in a magazine. All I can remember about the article was that the brand is Chinese and their TVs are cheap. Are they as good as Samsung or Sony? I would have to say yes having looked at the other brands in PC World. I got this 55-inch set configured in about five minutes and the HD pictures are sharp and the colours are bright and clear. I haven’t got anything in 4K to test out as yet but FreeViewHD looks great and my PS4 games have never looked better. Lifelike – would that be too strong a word? I think not. There are some Smart TV apps with the Hisense. BBC iPlayer, Netflix and YouTube and Amazon. The only one I use is Amazon Prime mainly for Clarkson. One thing I have noticed is the backlight feature needs to be turned up. The soundbar is great – no buzzing even at loud volumes (unlike my last TV). If you look at it from a wide angle, the colours don’t look as clear but at 55 inches this set is so big it dominates the room and I sit right in front of it. I would buy one of these. You’ll save yourself £500 on a bigger name brand. I’m not put off by the fact that it’s Chinese. A TV is a TV and this one’s great.”
“Lighter. Smaller. No power brick. Microsoft has improved the design of the Xbox no end with this One S. One second after it came out of the box it just felt right. I was setting it up and getting ready to play Forza. Getting it going I had to do updates for the console and the controller on day one which kind of got in the way of the action. You get a month of EA Access free and two weeks free of Gold. I wish I had a 4K TV for starters but maybe will get one soon. Even on my normal Samsung HD set the graphics look incredible, once you start playing. I’m going to be playing a lot of Halo, that much I know. And Fifa looks awesome. The Kinetic from my old Xbox doesn’t plug right into this one, but you can get a free adapter from Microsoft. The controller is a bit smaller and the buttons feel a bit different. It connects really easily with the Xbox and I like that it’s white. It might get dirty though, and I like to keep my consoles really clean and grime free, so I don’t know. It looks cool. I don’t know how I’d feel if I’d paid £280+ for this console coming from Xbox One but testing this free for the website I can only give it five stars. It’s a great console. The design just feels so good and the graphics are really cool. It will last a long time.”
